Ozil quits German National Team over “Racism and Disrespect”

German midfielder, Mesut Ozil quit the national side amidst racial remarks after he met with the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a London event in May.

According to him he received death threats and few groups used this reason to blame him for the substandard performance of Germany in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup.

Ozil said, “I am German when we win, but I am an immigrant when we lose”.

Ozil was disrespected for his Turkish roots and was obviously dejected with the whole outcome. Below are screen grabs of the lengthy statement made by him on Twitter.
