The match kicked off around 5:30 pm (IST) . At the 7th minute mark, Denmark’s Christian Eriksen gives Denmark the lead after getting assist from N. Jorgensen. At the 37th minute, Denmark’s Yussuf Poulsen was booked with a yellow card because of handball meaning he would miss the final match of his team which is against France. Goalkeepers of both the teams gave their full effort for their respective countries as they made some glorious saves. Because of the booking at the 37th minute, Australia got the penalty. Mile Jedinak took the penalty and scored ,which ended the goal drought for Australia. At the half time finish the score was 1-1.

At the start of the second half , both the teams were playing very well. Both their defenses  gave their counterparts no chance to score.

At the 59th minute Denmark made their first substitution, Martin Braithwaite (in) and Yussuf Poulsen (out). At the 68th minute Denmark made their second substitution Andreas Cornelius (in) , Nicolai Jorgensen (out). At the same time Australia made their first substitution, Daniel Arzani (in) and Robbie Kruse (out). At the 75th minute Australia made their second substitution ,Tomi Juric (in) and Andrew Nabbout (out). Nabbout looked to have dislocated his shoulder as he clearly felt some discomfort. It looks like his World Cup 2018 is as good as over. At the 82th minute Australia made their third and last substitution, Jackson Irvine (in) and Tom Rogic (out). At the 84th minute Denmark’s Pione Sisto earned himself a yellow card.

Australia are now on a run of five games without a win at the World Cup. They will need to end that run against Peru if they are to stand any chance of reaching the last 16.
