Shubhman Gill got his rightful batting position in the lineup of KKR and he didn’t disappoint. Gill dropped a massive catch of Dhoni during the first innings but surely he made up for it when he came out to bat and guided his team to a comfortable victory over the mighty Chennai Super Kings.
Chasing a target of 178, Lynn got out in the first over after hitting a couple of sixes and Ngidi was the gatecrasher.
Narine was dropped twice by Jadeja in two balls and the West Indian added 26 more to his tally quickly. When Bhajji removed Rinku Singh in the 12th over, CSK would have eyed an opening. But, all that was put to rest by the teenager along with the KKR skipper. The pair scored 83 off 36 balls and took their team past the line comfortably.
CSK started beautifully and scored 90 odd runs in the first 10 overs. But the quality of spinners KKR have in their arsenal spun a weave all around the CSK middle order.
Brilliant death bowling by the trio of spinner, Chawla, Narine and Kuldeep to keep the CSK to a below par score of 177/5 even with Dhoni on the crease.
