Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the fourth Test against South Africa and the Indian Premier League due to a “tibial bone stress” fracture in his right leg.

Starc was replaced for the final Test against South Africa at Johannesburg by South Australia’s Chadd Sayers today and is scheduled to fly home after the series.

The left-armer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for $1.8 million at the IPL auction in January, but will not take place in the lucrative tournament this season which comes as a big blow to the team depending heavily on their big buys. KKR are yet to name a replacement.
