Steve Smith and David Warner have been banned for 12 months if reports from Australian media are to be believed. Though no official report has been made by Cricket Australia, it is being strongly rumored that Smith will cancel his IPL contract and will travel overseas for a time out. A tweet recently came from the official handle of IPL team, Sunrisers Hyderabad which was supposed to be captained by David Warner.

“In light of recent events, David Warner has stepped down as captain of SunRisers Hyderabad. The new captain of the Team will be announced shortly.” – K.Shanmugam, CEO, SunRisers Hyderabad

According to a source in BCCI, the duo won’t be allowed to play IPL if they are banned by CA.

In extension, Darren Lehmann the coach of the Australian team during the SandpaperGate has been cleared off all charges. He will continue as Australia coach. Only three players – Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft – were involved in the Sandpaper gate. Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Renshaw and Joe Burns have been named as replacements for the last Test match between the Aussies and SA. Tim Paine has been officially named captain.
