Dinesh Karthik wins the Nidahas trophy for India

Dinesh Karthik played the innings of his life even though it lasted for just 8 balls which proved really crucial in India winning the tri-series trophy and snatched victory off the jaws of defeat.

Karthik came onto the pitch at a pressure moment when India needed 34 runs off 12 balls with the newbie Vijay Shankar struggling with a 15 ball 12 at the other end. It was a difficult task even for a team like India as the penultimate over was being bowled by the Bangladesh’s best bowler this match, Rubel Hossain. First ball went for a huge six towards long on followed by a swashbuckling four. The third ball again went for the maximum followed by a dot ball. A couple of runs in the fifth ball followed by a semi Dil-Scoop over the fielder standing in the short fine leg for a boundary. India needed just 12 of the last 6 balls.

Soumya Sarkar came onto the bowl the last over which led to the Indians needing 5 runs from the last ball, but a clearly hit six by the new KKR captain sealed off the match in style. This was the first major mark made by the cricketer after he debuted for India.

This match was surely not for the faint hearted and it etched a special place in the heart of every Indian fan with a memory long to be cherished. The menancing cobra was bitten and demolished by the men in blue.
