La Casa de Papel A.K.A Money Heist Series Premiere Review

A mysterious stranger named ‘The Professor’ recruits criminals based on their specific profile to carry out the biggest heist in the history of mankind.

La Casa de Papel is a Spanish heist television series created by Álex Pina for Antena 3. The show is a limited series. On 25 December 2017, the first part of season 1 premiered internationally on Netflix, though the season was re-edited into 13 episodes instead of the original number of nine episodes.

The first episode dives right into action as opposed to the norm followed generally by series in this genre. Tokyo, a criminal who has a hefty bounty on her head and is being dogged by the Spanish Police. A mysterious man, “The Professor” recruits her to carry out a big heist. He calls a meeting of an elite group of criminals all specialising in different categories and fitting right into the puzzle of The Professor’s plan of entering the Royal Mint of Spain and to print 2.4 billion euros. Everyone is given a name, the name of a city, to hide their persona. 5 months training and skipping ahead to the heist part, the story writer gets ahead with the action. It is not clear whether the story will take this course or will it take a diversion to tell us about the planning part of the story but one thing is for sure, this is going to be one hell of a ride.
